5-Fluorocytosine(also known as 5-FC, Fluorocytosine) is a nucleoside analog that has antifungal activies, typically used as an inhibitor of Nucleic Acid Synthesis of Fungi. 5-Fluorocytosine is deaminated by cytosine deaminase to product 5-fluorouracil, resulting in RNA miscoding. It also inhibits DNA and RNA synthesis and interferes with ribosomal protein synthesis.
