Lesinurad (also known as RDEA594) is a selective inhibitor of Urate transporter 1 (URAT1), a urate-anion exchanger which is responsible for the majority of uric acid reabsorption from the renal tubular lumen. It is used in combination with a xanthine oxidase inhibitor, such as allopurinol, for treating hyperuricemia (high levels of uric acid in the blood serum) associated with gout.
