Nafamostat mesylate (also known as Nafamstat Mesilate, FUT 175) is a broad spectrum serine protease inhibitor commonly used as an anticoagulant and reported as a drug for the treatments of DIC (disseminated intravascular coagulation) and acute pancreatitis, and as an anticoagulant in extracorporeal circulation. Researchers have identified the drug as a potential therapy for COVID-19, with clinical trials in Japan possibly set to begin in March 2020.
Nafamostat mesilate is an extremely potent inhibitor of human tryptase. [1]
Nafamostat mesilate, a potent serine protease inhibitor, inhibits airway eosinophilic inflammation and airway epithelial remodeling in a murine model of allergic asthma. [2]
