(S)-Tetrahydrofuran-2-carboxylic acid (aka (2S)-Oxolane-2-carboxylic acid) is a pharmaceutical fragment that typically used in the preparation of Faropenem, as an orally active beta-lactam antibiotic belonging to the penem group, against oxyimino-cephalosporin-resistant bacteria.
