Ethenesulfonyl fluoride(ESF) is a strong Michael acceptor for N, O, S, and C nucleophiles, as well as Diels-Alder dienophile. Taking use of ESF, facile incorporation of the SO2F functional group into molecules can be carried out with high yields for drug discovery and chemical biology application. The generated sulfonyl fluoride derivative is extremely stable but readily reacts with nucleophiles under the appropriate conditions for further functionalization or biochemical use.
