Pentafluorophenol (also called as PFP) is useful fluorinated compound typically for the preparation of pentafluorophenyl esters, which is an ative esters for peptide synthesis. It is also employed for peptide coupling, preparation of aromatic fluoro derivatives and the synthesis of pentalfluorophenyl formate which act as a formylating agent for amines and amino acids.
