Tris(2,2'-bipyridine)ruthenium(II) Bis(hexafluorophosphate) (also named as Ru(bpy)3(PF6)2) is used as high efficiency triplet emitter for OLED/Sensor research. It is also utilized as catalyst in the reaction of decarboxylative trifluoromethylation of (hetero)arenes  with the radical trifluoromethylating reagent of  [Bis(trifluoroacetoxy)iodo] pentafluorobenzene(FPIFA).
