2,4,6-Trimethylaniline (also known as 2,4,6-TMA, Mesidine)is typically used in the synthesis of Grubbs' catalyst, dyes and pharmaceutically active substances. For example, it is the starting material for the prepartion of Dapivirine, a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor to prevent infection by human immunodeficiency virus in women.
