4-Aminobenzonitrile (also known as 4-ABN, 4-Cyanoaniline)is typically used as an amino substituted benzonitrile with hypotensive activity, as a radioprotective agent and as a derivatization reagent.  Recently, it is used as a starting material for the prepartion of Dapivirine, a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor to prevent infection by human immunodeficiency virus in women.
