3-(trifluoromethyl)pyrazine-2-carboxylic acid is a useful trifluoromethylated building block and production intermediate for the synthesis of pesticides for agricultural and horticultural use. One typical example of Pyraziflumid is discovered as a novel SDHI fungicide chemically characterized by the 3-(trifluoromethyl)pyrazine-2-carboxamide group with particularly high fungicidal activities against a broad spectrum of plant diseases.
