Tris(triphenylphosphane)(trifluoromethyl)copper(I) (also known as (PPh3)3CuCF3) is a new, easily handled and bench-stable reagent for the copper-mediated trifluoromethylation of haloarenes, propargylic halides and trifluoroacetates. It is also a convenient starting material for the synthesis of other CuCF3 complexes, such as [(phen)Cu(PPh3)(CF3)].
