5-Iodo-2'-Deoxyuridine (also named as 5-I-dU,5-IUdR, IDU, IdUrd) is a pyrimidine analog (halogenated thymidine) that has antiviral activity agains vaccinia virus (orthopoxviruses). It is typcially used as a radiosensitizer in human cancer studies and a reagent in gene sequencing.
